The William Smith O’Brien Petition, compiled and edited by Ruth Lawler

This petition, from 1848-49, signed by 80,000 + people from every part of Ireland and Liverpool, Manchester, and other parts of England is a unique historical and genealogical resource from the period of the Famine. Who was William Smith O’Brien? Following the failure of the 1848 rising, O’Brien was sentenced to death, and this petition was collected the help gain clemency for the rebel leader. He was found "not guilty" and sequestered to Australia for life. This CD-ROM contains over 80,000 names, over 10,000 names from England, and over 70,000 names from Ireland. No more unreported judgements… the new eWILR online. Coming in March 2001, you will be able to access all written (reserved) judgements of the Superior Courts from July 1998, including some Circuit Court judgements. Created by Bart D. Daly, BL, editor of Irish Times Law Reports since 1989.

eWILR is designed to follow the exact tabulation of every page and paragraph of the original judgement, an added bonus for accuracy in citation and brief preparation. ProQuest’s new MARC records for Early English Books Online are ready to load on your OPAC, with hotlinks that take researchers straight to the retrospective works they want...without leaving the library's search interface.  These are the definitive MARC records for every component of EEBO. Sales/Marketing Executives: Lendac Data Systems require ambitious and self-motivated sales/account management staff to consolidate and promote electronic database sales into academic research, library, medical & pharmaceutical, government, corporate, legal, environmental health & safety and agricultural & food sectors. An understanding of the library/information market would be an advantage and/or experience in one or more of the above market sectors. These are challenging positions with the leading Irish distributor of research and information products with over 1000 electronic titles and a fast growing catalogue of in-house published titles.
